Dear Vice President Harris,
From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you. Every step of your journey you have shown up with grace. You didn’t let them see you sweat. Even when your voice cracked, you remained strong. You are an inspiration to the woman of America, to me, and I thank you.
Today, a position you were fully qualified for was given to a tyrant who is a disgrace to the country. I had hope, but I feel like I should have known better. This is what it is like to be a woman in America. But while I was home crying and angry, you stepped out in front of the whole world with a smile on your face. You were gracious and poised. You gave the president elect the grace and respect he denied you and President Biden four years ago. You did that because you’re a better person than he is. You encouraged us to respect the process, while also continuing the fight.
“Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.” We will shine. We will shine for us, for you, for our country, and for our future.
Thank you for showing grace today when some of us (me) couldn’t. Thank you for fighting even when the odds were against you. Thank you for the lifetime of service you have given our country. Thank you for renewing our hope. Thank you for giving us something to believe in. Thank you for not giving up.
If you’re not burned out completely and have some fight in you in 2028, please know that we are with you.
With so much love and gratitude!
